Rudder is designed to minimize the effort required in managing your money. Whether you pay all your bills systematically from one checking account or have more credit cards than your wallet/ purse can fit, Rudder helps you stay on top of your finances.

Nikhil Roy, Founder & CEO

Nikhil's first entrepreneurial experience was back in 2001, when he co-founded eSoftware Solutions. He was the chief architect of the company's flagship CRM product, which was successfully deployed at Home Depot Stores. In 2003 after experiencing substantial growth, eSoftware Solutions was acquired by a Home Depot subsidiary. Between 2002 and 2004, Nikhil directed the product strategy at bigvault.com, a company that pioneered the open internet based file system (online storage). Since then, he has been involved with early stage startups in the Enterprise Software Arena, where he engineered several products from concept to market.

Philosophy

We believe that there's no "One Size Fits All Approach" to handling finances. Everyone has their own style of managing (and sometimes mismanaging) their money. Some want to know how much they can splurge until their next pay check, while others may want to figure out the fastest way to pay off their credit cards.

The idea behind Rudder is to create a solution can be tailored to the needs of every user.

We started off by addressing the most commonly required, but important elements of managing finances – checking your balances, reviewing your transactions, and paying your bills on time. We then came up with a "What's Left" calculator that analyzes your expected income and projected expenses to figure out how much money you can spend today. (You could use the same money to pay off your credit cards or into a savings account.) Rudder is designed to offer users the ability to choose the personal finance features they want.

Rudder is backed by Meakem Becker Venture Capital, an early-stage venture capital firm that invests in a wide range of information technology and life sciences companies. Based out of Sewickley, Pennsylvania their experienced team of entrepreneurs and investors provide valuable guidance and advice.
